Data Communication & Computer Networking Hub
Interactive TCP/IP model simulator, network design workbook, and bilingual Sinhala networking knowledge portal.

Overview
An interactive digital learning hub built to teach computer networking and data communications. Featuring an interactive network design workbook, an interactive TCP/IP model simulator, and a comprehensive Sinhala study guide, the platform equips students and IT trainees with hands-on understanding of packet routing, subnet masking (CIDR/VLSM), OSI layers, and hardware devices (routers, switches, repeaters).
Design decisions
The choices that shaped the system, and why.
- 1
Visual Bitwise Subnet Calculator
Engineered an interactive bitwise visualizer that renders IPv4 32-bit binary strings (network bits vs host bits) dynamically as the user slides CIDR prefixes from /8 to /30.
- 2
Bilingual Sinhala/English Synthesis
Formulated clear Sinhala explanations for complex concepts (DHCP handshakes, NAT port forwarding, ARP tables) to accelerate comprehension for university students.
Architecture
Interactive Network Design Workbook
Interactive web app calculating subnet masks, usable host ranges, and network/broadcast IPs.
TCP/IP Interactive Model
Visualizes packet encapsulation and decapsulation as data moves from Application down to Physical layer.
Bilingual Educational Corpus
Complete Sinhala documentation explaining complex concepts (DNS, DHCP, NAT, Gateway, Firewall, DMZ) in accessible language.
Practice Exam & Model Question Bank
Curated question banks and solutions for university networking examinations (COM 3401).
DevOps & deployment
Static hosting on AWS S3 / CloudFront or GitHub Pages.
Features
- Real-time IPv4 subnet calculator with VLSM allocation visualization.
- Step-by-step interactive OSI vs TCP/IP layer comparisons.
- Hardware component deep-dives: hubs, repeaters, bridges, switches, routers.
- Bilingual Sinhala and English study notes and practice exam questions.
